Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy.

This website is owned, operated, and maintained by MSK Rehabilitation Ltd. (“we”, “our”, “us”). We are committed to protecting the privacy, confidentiality, and security of personal and health information collected through this website in accordance with all applicable privacy legislation in Alberta and Canada, including the Health Information Act (HIA), the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP), and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), where applicable.

We respect the privacy of our patients, employees, and visitors to this website. We collect only the personal information necessary to provide healthcare or rehabilitation services and to support our clinic operations. This information may include your name, contact details, health information, or other personal identifiers, but only when you voluntarily provide such data—for example, through contact forms, appointment bookings, or by emailing us directly. By submitting your personal information to us, you consent to its collection, use, and disclosure as outlined in this policy and in accordance with the privacy laws that apply to healthcare providers in Alberta.

Any personal or health information collected is used solely for the purposes for which it was obtained, such as responding to your inquiries, scheduling and managing appointments, or delivering healthcare services. We do not disclose your information to third parties without your consent, except where required by law or in limited circumstances such as billing, insurance submissions, or where external service providers assist us under strict confidentiality obligations. In all cases, we will inform you of the intended use and seek your consent before disclosing your information for any other purpose.

As a healthcare provider in Alberta, we are bound by the Health Information Act (HIA), which governs the collection, use, and disclosure of health information. At the time of collection, you will be informed of the purpose, legal authority, and your right of access to the information. We retain your personal or health information only for as long as necessary to fulfill its intended purpose or to meet regulatory, legal, or professional retention requirements, such as those mandated by Alberta Employment Standards or the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

To safeguard your information, we maintain strict physical, administrative, and technical controls. These include secure electronic databases, locked filing cabinets, password-protected access, and employee confidentiality training. Only authorized personnel who require access to your information to fulfill their professional duties are permitted to view or use your data. Whether stored electronically or on paper, all personal information is handled with the utmost care and in compliance with applicable laws.

Email is not a secure method of communication and may be intercepted or accessed by unauthorized third parties. If you wish to share sensitive or confidential information, we encourage you to contact us by phone, in person, or by mail instead of using email.

Should you choose to communicate or transmit personal or health information to MSK Rehabilitation Ltd. via email, you acknowledge and accept the inherent privacy and security risks associated with this method. MSK Rehabilitation Ltd. will not be held responsible for any unauthorized access, loss, or misuse of information that occurs as a result of email transmission beyond our control.

This information is used for internal analysis to help us improve website functionality, monitor performance, and ensure security. It is collected under section 33(c) of the FOIP Act and is not linked to any personal identifiers. We do not attempt to identify individual users unless legally required to do so, such as in the case of an investigation or court order.

This website may also use cookies—small data files sent to your browser during a session—to help maintain user preferences, track survey responses, or enhance navigation. These cookies do not store personal or health information and are not permanently retained on our systems. You may disable cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may affect some website functionality. Cookie data is never used to match user activity with personal information or IP addresses.

You have the right to request access to your personal or health information held by us, including information about how it has been used or disclosed. To submit an access request, please contact our Privacy Officer at info@mskrehab.org. We will respond to your request within 30 calendar days, as required by law. In rare cases where we cannot provide access, such as when the information is subject to solicitor-client privilege, contains sensitive third-party data, or poses a risk to the safety of others, we will provide written justification for the refusal.

We take all privacy-related inquiries and complaints seriously and will investigate them thoroughly. If you wish to raise a concern, please contact our Privacy Officer by email at info@mskrehab.org, including as many relevant details as possible.

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date. If significant changes are made, we will provide additional notice on our website homepage to ensure transparency.
