FCAMPT Designation 1-1.png

Highest Level of Physiotherapy in Calgary (FCAMPT Designation)

Receive care from FCAMPT-certified therapists leaders in manual therapy and clinical expertise. This designation reflects the highest level of post-graduate training in Canada.

Our FCAMPT physiotherapists in Calgary provide advanced manual therapy for patients seeking precision care for complex musculoskeletal conditions like spinal dysfunction, joint pain, nerve irritation, and chronic mobility issues. The Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT) designation represents the highest standard of clinical training in orthopaedic physiotherapy. With this level of expertise, we deliver hands-on treatment that improves joint mechanics, speeds recovery, enhances function, and reduces the risk of reinjury—ideal for those who want the most skilled approach to care.

Most people don't choose their physiotherapist based on post-graduate credentials. They choose based on proximity, availability, or insurance coverage. The result, frequently, is a standard clinical experience that doesn't match the complexity of what they're dealing with.

The FCAMPT designation changes that calculus.

What FCAMPT Means

Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. It is the highest post-graduate clinical designation available in orthopaedic physiotherapy in Canada, recognized internationally through the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT).

Achieving FCAMPT requires completing a rigorous post-graduate program in orthopaedic manual therapy, accumulating supervised clinical hours across complex musculoskeletal presentations, and passing written and practical examinations that test clinical reasoning at an advanced level. Less than 5% of physiotherapists in Canada hold this designation.

What does it mean clinically?

FCAMPT-trained physiotherapists assess and treat spinal and peripheral joint conditions with a level of diagnostic precision that standard physiotherapy training doesn't provide. This includes:

  • Advanced cervical and lumbar segmental examination — identifying specific spinal levels contributing to pain and dysfunction

  • Skilled differentiation between joint, nerve, and muscle contributions to a patient's presentation

  • Manual therapy techniques that require advanced training to apply safely and effectively, including high-velocity manipulation of the cervical spine

  • Clinical reasoning for complex, multi-system presentations where the diagnosis isn't straightforward

Why does this matters for complex conditions?

If you have chronic spinal pain, cervicogenic headache, nerve-related symptoms, post-MVA injuries that haven't resolved, or a presentation that multiple practitioners have assessed without a clear answer — FCAMPT-level assessment is specifically designed for these cases.

It's the difference between a practitioner who treats the area that hurts and one who has the training to identify where the problem is actually coming from.

FCAMPT-certified therapy and clinical reasoning at MSKrehab is commonly delivered alongside Joint Manipulation and Mobilizations for spine segmental pain, Gunn IMS dry needling for neuropathic components, McGill Method rehabilitation for spinal stability, and as the foundation of chronic pain management and MVA rehabilitation programs.
