As an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist with FCAMPT designation, we can order diagnostic imaging — including X-rays, ultrasound, and MRI — when clinically indicated, as part of your overall assessment and treatment plan.
When is imaging clinically indicated?
Not every musculoskeletal condition requires imaging. In many cases, a thorough clinical assessment provides more useful information than a scan. But there are situations where imaging changes clinical decision-making — suspected fracture or bone pathology, ligament or tendon rupture that may require surgical management, nerve root compression not responding to conservative treatment, post-surgical hardware assessment, and conditions where the diagnosis remains unclear after clinical assessment.
How it works at MSKrehab:
If imaging is indicated, we explain why, what we're looking for, and how the result will affect your treatment plan. We coordinate with imaging providers, review results in the context of your clinical findings, and communicate relevant information to your referring physician or GP as part of our care coordination model. You don't need to navigate that process on your own.
